KUALA LUMPUR, 30 Oct 2008 – Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) officially launched the Agency’s TV Drama called “RM” in Kuala Lumpur today. The Drama was officially launched by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Mohd Hanif bin Sher Mohamed, Chairman of AKPK.“RM”, is a 13 episode drama in Bahasa Malaysia that will be screened every Monday night at 9pm on RTM 2, beginning November 3rd, 2008. These 30 minute episodes aim to highlight real life experiences of financially distressed individuals from diverse backgrounds.
The CEO of AKPK, Encik Mohamed Akwal Sultan in his speech, said, ”The messages in these 13 episode drama are primarily, to practice prudent financial management, adopt a lifestyle within one’s means and being aware about financial products and scams in the market. “RM” will touch on cases like, “Skim Cepat Kaya”, “Lavish Wedding”, over-spending and misuse of credit cards, among others and it reiterates AKPK’s firm philosophy of “Make Prudent Financial Management Our Way of Life”.
When asked why the name ”RM” was chosen, En. Akwal replied, “We named the series “RM” as we felt that it would be best to leave it to the imagination of the viewers to perceive the title the way they want. For, “RM” could stand for Ringgit Malaysia, Reality Malaysia or even Ringgit Management. It is really what the viewers want it to be. However what the drama portrays are real life experiences of financially distressed individuals from diverse backgrounds.”
“RM” will definitely entertain audiences and help to impart knowledge and emphasize on the importance of financial literacy regardless of their varied lifestyle and cultural backgrounds. It is crucial to note that being in a sound financial mind is important for one to be productive and to be able to contribute positively to the economy”, Encik Akwal added.
